WordPress – A Week In Review (December 24, 2007)
by Kevin on December 25, 2007
Westi on WordPress has published a list of the new developments in WordPress for the time period between December 17-23, 2007 with many new updates, some of the most notable including but not limited to:
- Fixes to the tag entry field to avoid erroneous blank tags.
- Fixes to the valid element configuration of the text/WYSIWYG editor to allow more valid combinations.
- Allow more valid titles – changes to
sanitize_title()to allow ’0′ to be a valid title. - Visual – Improvements to the image metadata extraction functionality, PNG transparency and alpha channel preservation
- Install/Server Improvements – Check for valid database connection info, changes to wpdb class to suppress database errors by default, support for custom database down page
- Link/URI changes – Changes to sanitize_title() to allow ’0′ to be a valid title, links relevant to the comment editing screen
- Password strength meter to user profile pages.
- A new admin design – with screenshots hopefully coming next week.
Of these, the top changes I would like to see would have to be the admin interface, server-side changes to make WordPress more secure, and as always, little fixes for images and linking. By the way, less than one month until WordPress 2.4 is released.
