Risks You Take NOT Leaving Comments on Other Blogs

Commenting is still one of the easiest, but most time consuming, methods of gaining newfound traffic to your blog and building a network with other bloggers. It is a process that takes time, and once you have built up a large amount of comments on other blogs, you can receive a steady stream of traffic directly from those sites.
But, what are the risks you take when you don’t comment? In this extreme example, let’s consider that you’ve never commented before, providing absolutely no links back to your site, yet you still consider your blog successful (you can generate a full-time income from it).
- Brand reputation may be ruined if you don’t leave little “thanks for writing a post about my blog” or if you don’t sort out issues with other bloggers, or correct mistakes that they make, which may ultimately affect your goals.
- Once you have built up a significant number of comments, you may receive a steady inflow of new visitors, considering that you have left a constructive or insightful comment on the blog. Short, “good post” comments generally don’t quality unless you are considered the “god” in your niche and people respect you to that level – simply for visiting their blog.
- Commenting helps you connect with other bloggers. If you don’t comment, it may leave a void in your blog, as less people will comment back, plus it is better to connect with your competition than to face them by yourself. in a sense, commenting is similar to replying to emails, if others don’t see a response from you, it indicates that you would rather never do business with them again.
- As briefly stated in the last risk, when you don’t comment, others may not feel that they need to comment on your blog, or won’t take your blog as being “personal”. Comments go hand in hand with new content, if others don’t see the comments, they likely won’t leave a new response.
- Finally, if you don’t leave a comment on blogs you enjoy, you aren’t helping support those bloggers. Even a small comment can make the day of someone who rarely receives comments. It is doing a simple favor that can mean a world of difference to someone else.
On an ending note, leave a comment on someone else’s blog. It doesn’t take a huge amount of time to do and you may reap many benefits from it.
