Ideally, you shouldn't be posting about posts on other blogs in your niche (you should be able to provide the same experience to <em>your</em> visitors) and external linking takes some of the search engine "dominance" from your site(s).Some blogs (especially established) link companies to tags that they have set up, so it can be difficult to find out when/if they are linking out, as the link to the source article is often hidden or not included at all in the post. @Rarst – I have some of the same views. However for some sites that I mention very often (friends, same niche) I often link to my own review that I had done on them previously.Basically if I mention article I will link to article. If I mention person I will link to how is this person related to me or my blog. I don’t hesitate to link out to specific articles.
