Grab Your Free Premium Themes
Since WooThemes‘ launch a little over four months ago, the site has already grew quite successful, with an increasing number of themes and new features for themes. After all, it has only been a year since the owner first set off in the direction of the premium themes market and was on his own.
Now, one year later, the theme that helped launch the site (then branded as Premium News Theme) is now being released to the public for free.
The theme, titled “The Original Premium News Theme” is now downloadable straight from this page.
While the theme(s) may not be the ideal solution for all bloggers, they each have a unique purpose. In this case, this “anniversary” theme is best suited for blogs that want a magazine/blog appearance, while being able to include videos, advertisements, and featured images on the main page.
Excerpt from Post
The Original Premium News Theme, was the very first premium theme that we ever released. This theme may be a bit rough around the edges (in terms of its looks), but we’ve used the same solid base for all our subsequent themes. Enjoy this themes’ minimalistic beauty and make it your own today!

Upcoming Announcements
There are more themes to come at WooThemes, with many new concepts placed here and here as part of their recent contest.
Conclusion
There is no doubt that the recent release of the new Revolution Themes prompted the availability of the free themes, although moving to an all-free themes model would prove more detrimental in this case, as they began building the brand seriously over the past six months.
It is recommended that you check out their premium themes as well as their free themes, which have all been created by “top” designers in the community.

Meh. I just downloaded the premium news theme for the heck of it.
I just finished setting up woothemes typebased theme on my blog. It was due for a change…
@ethan – I agree that the new, free themes are of great value for people who don’t have the extra cash for the club. But, these releases make me feel more inclined to purchase them.
