Be Passionate About What You Do
by Kevin on October 6, 2009
Having passion and devotion on a blog is key to establishing yourself as a leader online. Without this passion, your readers will realize fairly quickly that you have no motivation to create compelling content. In other words, your readers know whether you are just blogging to join the crowd or you are seriously trying to get your name out and creating a community.
People who aren’t passionate have no reason to continue doing what the are, and this will result in less motivation in the long-term. You simply can’t continue performing at your best when you have no desire to continue managing your blog. Passion can help transform your blog within the matter of a few posts.
By the time you realize you are passionate, it’ll be easier to expand your blog and reach into new markets. You need to have some form of motivation in order to continue.
How to Solve the “No Passion” Dilemma
1. Destroy Your Schedule – Having a schedule is a guaranteed way to eliminate any passion you have left. You want to write when you are passionate, not when you are forced to write. If you are answering email (a task that many bloggers hate), make sure you do it when you aren’t thinking about anything else, or you’ll spend a much longer time answering the same number of emails.
2. Read Others Who Inspire You – Subscribe to other bloggers who inspire you. They can help you get back on the track of creating compelling content. Socialize with those whose content inspires you – through email, Twitter, and other methods.
3. Jot Down Ideas throughout the Day – Keep a journal or some form of a notebook which you use to gather up your ideas and integrate them into your blog. Don’t use all your ideas, only the best. The more ideas you have, the more of a chance you’ll have of really attracting new readers to your blog.
4. No Idea is Bad – In some cases, writer’s block comes when you think all your ideas are bad. This isn’t true, as any idea can be applied to your blog. Rejecting all your ideas will leave you with none left. Even if they aren’t good enough to publish on your blog, at least you’ll have some type of idea of what direction you want to take your blog in.
5. Don’t Forget the Market – The market/niche surrounding your blog should be quite large. There may be a problem if you have difficulty creating good ideas for your site. You should be writing in a niche that you really enjoy, otherwise there will never be a time that you can get any enthusiasm for writing.
Conclusion
Passion is something that has to be built up. There are differences between inspiration and passion – with passion comes inspiration. When you have no desire to write on a regular basis, it’ll be difficult to grow your blog. Readers will find that it is a pain to read your content, as there are no innovation and creative thoughts included.
