Infographic – The Ultimate Guide to Upgrading WordPress

by Kevin on October 10, 2009

I’ve covered how to upgrade WordPress properly in the past on this blog, but WP Beginner has designed and published an interesting, well-designed infographic. For most people, they consider infographics rather pointless, unless they are completely followed and you have a background in the subject, but in this case, you will find it useful if you’ve never upgraded WordPress before.

It is simple to follow – start where it says “Start Your WordPress Upgrade” and finish after you’ve backed everything up and your site is working properly again.

You can view a preview of the infographic below or view the full/complete version by going to the WP Beginner post.

I’ve been pretty happy with this WordPress plugin:

WordPress Automatic Upgrade allows a user to automatically upgrade the wordpress installation to the latest one provided by wordpress.org using the 5 steps provided in the wordpress upgrade instructions.

Yes, I’ve used that plugin before WordPress had its own system and I’ve found an off-site method. However, even when using a plugin like this, it is best that you upgrade plugins and ensure that everything has been backed up.
