My Favorite Twitter Clients

Twitter has become a BIG part of all of our blogs. Even though you may not use the service, I can almost guarantee you that you are seeing benefits from it. As long as you have any of the ShareThis/AddThis/etc. plugins integrated, people can easily share your posts through the popular service.

While many people choose to use the online interface, I have a few of my favorite Twitter clients, and the reasons behind using them. I use multiple clients, as I manage multiple accounts, but there are more reasons behind the choices.

The Web Interface

I still use the web interface for quick posting. It makes it easy to issue quick updates, and even shortens long URLs. I can also take advantage of their new features, usually before the other Twitter clients receive them. Plus, it’s the best for staying up-to-date on any relevant Trending Topics.

CoTweet

I haven’t been able to take advantage of CoTweet as much as some of the other clients, but can see its power, especially for businesses and professionals. I like the fact that you can use it wherever you may be. More importantly, you can manage multiple accounts, monitor keywords and trends, and schedule updates in the future.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck has a lot of power, can be used on your desktop (Mac, Windows, and Linux) or iPhone, but I don’t find the interface that appealing. It’s more for monitoring multiple feeds than tweeting. It could be that I am used to other, easier to use clients, but it still makes it into this list due to its power and flexibility.

Echofon

Echofon is a suite of an iPhone app, Firefox extension, and desktop client, which all sync with one another. Whether using the desktop client or Firefox version, they are all easy to use and set up. It’s easy to insert images (drag and drop), insert links, and manage accounts. It’s similar to Tweetie but without ads/cost (price will be released “later this year”).
