Take Blogging One Step at a Time

by Kevin on November 28, 2009

Blogging is a gradual process and it will take time before you see the results you always dreamed about. Even then, you will still be looking for more, at times wondering what you are doing wrong.

Although becoming a serious blogger is a long-term approach, it can be done when you look at your long-term goals and where you want to be in the future. Perhaps you want to make more money or perhaps you simply want to share your thoughts with others.

Should you take any shortcuts during the whole adventure, they’ll likely come back in the end to bite you. You’ll quickly realize that shortcuts just expose the holes in your plan, and can really cause some problems when you are constantly taking them.

Main Points to Consider

  1. Month-over-Month Goals – Create goals on a monthly basis. They help me to strategize and determine what needs to be done in order to grow traffic and market my blog(s) better.
  2. Constantly Change – Changing is rarely a negative in the world of blogging. You want to constantly experiment (small elements at first), to see what works and what doesn’t.
  3. Connections Last a Lifetime – Get to know some of the other people in your niche and help them out or connect with others who may be also starting a blog in your niche.

Conclusion

Realize that blogging is a gradual process and the only way to really “win” at blogging is to take the slow and steady path. The fast path may win first, but the blogger behind the blog will find it more difficult to maintain the level of traffic and quality content.

Wow… what a picture. I know you are talking about blogging, but I like blogging and hiking… in the other order, so I love that photo!
